The Wonders of Wen Fa Sheng is a mystery spectacle as it might have been performed 700 years ago in China's Forbidden City. The audience is immediately bewitched by the jangling sound of Chinese music, the magnificent costumes, and the graceful movements of Chinese Opera. Then the magic begins and a mystery unfolds which becomes more and more baffling with each surprise. Smoke and streamers and bowls and jars and kites and streamers fill the stage in the most colorful wonder show ever imagined.
Avadon debuted The Wonders of Wen Fa Sheng at the London Theatre Festival in Ontario, Canada and garnered these reviews:
I had the eerie sensation of being transported to a China ruled by emperors and watched over by dragons. The stage was ablaze with color and mystery. Unforgettable.
- The London Free Press
Within seconds I'd given up hope of working out how any of this was happening and gave myself over to the joy of watching these impossibly appearing flags and kites and jars and cages fill the stage.
And when live goldfish came bubbling out of nowhere, it was a moment of awe.
- Scene Magazine
Running time: 10 minutes
Performance requirements: A well-equipped stage at least 20' wide and 10' deep
